The Chairman of The Department of Defense Industries under The President’s Office, İsmail Demir noted that the effort towards increasing and enriching the capabilities of our security forces and developing solutions that would aid them in the field has not been disrupted by the global pandemic and the restrictions accompanying it.
As a marker of continuing effort and imrpovement, Mr. Demir introduced the next generation criminal investigation vans dubbed “Kıraç”s. Kıraçs will be produced in two forms as armored and unarmored vehicles, and will have an office, space, a mini-lab, and an evidence storage space within them. Kıraçs are equipped with 360 degree CCTV systems and powerful lighting for enlightening wide areas to improve investigation circumstances. With Kıraçs, it will be ensured that harsh environmental conditions and the time spent with carrying pieces of evidence to stable laboratories will not intervene with the speed and efficiency of the investigation, and affect the performance of the investigators.
Among the criminal investigation equipment within Kıraçs, there are Papilon solutions. Kıraçs have our superior fingerprint scanner LS-1101 which works in integration with the central biometric data management and storage system, APFIS, Papilon’s signature service which aids public institutions and law enforcement in their work all around Turkey. “LS-1101”s will be used in fingerprinting suspects to determine whether they have been involved in criminal cases before, they are in an effort to evade justice, or using unauthentic documentation such as fake Ids and passports. The prints collected from the crime scene can be photographed and sent to APFIS for inquiry. A product of Turkish engineering, APFIS is capable to run inquiries from photographs and can return match results in approximately three minutes. This feature is especially useful in cases where there is no visual proof of the event such as instances in blind spots or remote areas. In addition to finger and palm prints, APFIS also stores and therefore can run inquiries from facial images of the suspects. In cases where suspects leave the crime scene yet left visual proof bhind such as CCTV footage, suspects can be identified easily via these images.
Kıraçs will allow law enforcement officers to move their work environment wherever they want and prevent the deficiency of equipment or harsh conditions affecting the cases. Thanks to Papilon’s hardware and software solutions, suspect will be identified in no time and cases will be closed quickly and effectively.
According to Hurriyet’s news story, there will be a total of sixty Kıraçs deployed to the service of Turkish police forces and the first six Kıraçs have been delivered and are in use.
